My little princess is surely a music lover...as soon as she hears music she starts dancing in her own cute way whichever position she is in- sitting, lying, eating, stading, in car, in lap...just whereever she is. Yes i mean it - she starts moving her hands if possible , if thats not possible..she starts tapping with her foot..or just moving it up and down (if in lying position), she even taps with her finger..like following the notes. If she is sitting, she starts moving back and forth. We discovered her love for music long back (ok long back means months ago when she was around 2 months) It was night time and she was crying. We had got a new clock and radio..so we just put in on to try and the music started. She stopped cring and went quiet...smiling till the music was going on. From that time on, i saw her happy whenever music was playing around her. So i decided to take her for some music class. I came across this course called "muziek op schoot" (music on lap)for babies from 3 months onwards. How could i have ignored that. I registered immediately and now I have been taking Prisha for that class for few weeks now. Well its not a class like we would see for adults. Everytime i have told someone about the music class for babies i get a surprised look back. Music class for baby??? What can that be? How can such a young baby sing or play any instrument or understand details of that? Well, well...as the name suggests - it is music on lap. So what they do there - the lady or the teacher sings rhymes, songs for babies, plays instruments like flute, piano, bells, chimes etc. All the rhymes have some teaching in them - like teaching hello/bye, hiding/showing hands, music balls, blocks(building/breaking), air/wind, whisper, roll over etc etc. It's great fun. There are 10 kids around same age - 9-12 months. All mommies (and some dads - when they come) love it even more than their babies :D We dance with our babies, sing to them and with them, we also try to sing in their gibbrish --ddaaaadaaa, baabaaa. Believe me they love to hear mommies talk in their language - "ahhh what a relief- finally my mommy understands me."
It's a great experience. I would recommend such an activity to everyone.
